IIn Brandenburg there was a forest fire on Saturday. According to the district of Potsdam-Mittelmark, some of the forces that fought a large forest fire south-west of Berlin had to be withdrawn. The extinguishing activities there would therefore be more difficult.
Several emergency services were injured during the operation. Six firefighters have suffered minor injuries since Thursday, according to the spokesperson. For example, the helpers inhaled poisonous fumes or members of injuries on their hands. About 400 emergency services were still present during the evening.
According to the information that was burned at Fichtenwalde east of the motorway 9 and south of the motorway 10 near Beelitz, about three hectares of forest land, as the Brandenburg police reported on Twitter. The radio station RBB reports that the alarm was received by the fire brigade shortly before 1:00 PM. With the help of, among other things, helicopters from the Bundeswehr, the fire was completely extinguished, the Interior Ministry said in the afternoon.
The fire had spread in the direction of Beelitz-Heilstätten. Big smokers could be seen from the highways, eyewitnesses reported.
Tanks in action
In the fight against the fire, the fire brigade now receives support from the Bundeswehr's tanks.
