According to the Federal Environmental Agency, the 14 cities with nitrogen dioxide (NO2) in 2017 are more than 50 micrograms per cubic meter of air: Munich, Stuttgart, Cologne, Reutlingen, Düren, Hamburg, Limburg an der Lahn, Dusseldorf, Kiel, Heilbronn, Backnang, Darmstadt, Bochum and Ludwigsburg. But as the German news agency learned from government circles, special solutions are being sought for other affected cities – including Frankfurt am Main, where after a court decision in 2019 driving bans must come.
