After the large losses of the CSU in the elections in Bavaria, more and more votes are calling for the dismissal of Horst Seehofer. This also explains that he is "replaceable". Seehofer sees his style as critical during the asylum debate in the summer.
BMinister of the Interior Horst Seehofer admitted that he was complicit in the course of the asylum dispute in the big coalition of last summer. "The style of the conflict" was his biggest mistake in the past six months, said the CSU chief of the ZDF program "What now, Mr. Seehofer?".
However, Seehofer emphasized that he was still in favor of the demand for rejection of certain immigrants at the German border, "the content was good". The CSU will continue to work constructively in the federal government. However, this meant "no cemetery resting", there will certainly be discussions again.
Seehofer also rejected the claim that the CSU had undergone a shift to the right in recent months. The CSU was – this would prove the voter migration – in a sandwich position between AfD, Free Voters and Greens.
Seehofer again campaigned to deal with the defeat at the state elections in Bavaria after the end of the coalition negotiations. "The most important thing is to form a government." Those who campaign for stability during the election campaign can not now cause instability with internal debates in the Free State.
Seehofer did not want to comment on his own future, as he had previously done in the CSU board meeting. At the same time he emphasized: "Everyone is replaceable, I always." The party had therefore agreed on a procedure that will close the open work before the end of this year. "I am a party leader and as a party leader you obviously have a part of the responsibility for the development of an election, which I also observe, I will also face it," said Seehofer.
