Richter is the richest but not the only artist on the list. His painter colleague Klaus Wolf Knoebel (77) has earned about 250 million euros with his works and thus lands at grade 755 of the rankings.

The infamous painter Georg Baselitz (80, known in the 60's by his image of a masturbating boy), is also one of the super rich in Germany with 150 million euros.

Many of the super-rich are heirs or founders of well-known companies such as Miele, Tchibo or Fielmann. The list, however, also hides many so-called hidden champions, who have become rich with relatively unknown companies or non-glamorous products.

One of them: Hans Thomann (55). De Franke has built the largest instrument trade in the world in his hometown Treppendorf – and earned 200 million euros and the 830th place in the ranking.

The Utsch family may also be relatively unknown in Germany, but has established one of the market leaders in the production of number plates. The now-sold Utsch AG supplies all over the world with victories (including Iraq and Egypt). The family has a capital of around 200 million euros and occupies the 811th place.
