The federal Interior Ministry has failed for years & # 39; & # 39; as a supervisory authority

DThe Bundesrechnungshof has, according to a newspaper report, accused the Federal Ministry of the Interior of serious negligence in the control of the federal refugee agency. As a specialized supervision of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (Bamf), the ministry had "failed" for years, quoting the "Bild am Sonntag" from the Court's report. A spokesman for the ministry did not want to comment on the report. He pointed out, however, that the leadership of the Bamf was exchanged and supervision was strengthened. The authority receives 1650 new jobs.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (BMI) received the Court of Auditors' report on irregularities last Wednesday in the Bremen branch office. The Court makes recommendations to the Bamf and the ministry. The Ministry has six weeks to do a so-called finding, on the basis of which a final test report will be presented.

The "BamS" now quoted from the report, the lack of control over the Bamf had led to "that the correct application of the law in the asylum procedure in the field office was not guaranteed for years." The ministry did not hear any warnings from the competent control department of Bamf.

Accordingly, since 2017 the department has complained about personnel shortages, which means that they can not check the Bamf properly. The federal administration also recommended in May 2017 to increase the number of staff members urgently. But nothing happens. "For the personnel budgets 2017, 2018 and 2019, the BMI has not reported additional requirements for technical supervision to the Federal Ministry of Finance."

According to the report, the auditors see this not only as a failure of the former Federal Minister of the Interior, Thomas de Maizière (CDU). Even successor Horst Seehofer (CSU) could therefore be advised in explanatory notes. For example, in May 2018, the head of the department explained to the auditors that "they still do not consider the staff to be sufficient to ensure proper and consistent application of the law in the Bamf".

According to the ministry, the budget for 2018 creates the conditions for the "almost complete" adoption of employees with a fixed term in the Bamf. The authority receives 1650 new jobs. 4500 more jobs will be completed. Minister of the Interior Seehofer had replaced the Bamf leadership in mid-June.
