Identitary movements commit more than a hundred offenses
The extreme right-wing identity movement is responsible for more than one hundred offenses in the past 16 months. This is the result of the findings of the Ministry of the Interior.
Above all, the so-called Identitary Movement mobilizes against "Islamization" that threatens the European identity. According to the Federal Ministry of the Interior, the far-right group in Germany has attracted more than 100 offenses in the last 16 months. Between April 2017 and August 2018, the authorities registered 114 offenses against the organization, the Handelsblatt reported. The newspaper refers to a response from the ministry to a small request from the left-wing MEP Martina Renner.
A year earlier there were 74 politically motivated crimes related to the Identitarian Movement. Crimes include maltreatment, coercion, financial loss, incitement and violation.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, the Identitarian Movement is nationally active and has about 500 members in 17 regional groups and 100 local groups. In part, the movement is connected to the right spectrum. It would consist of "contacts isolated by personal acquaintances (…) in the established right-wing extremist scene," it says in the government's response. In addition, there are indications for an entanglement of the IB with the same group in Austria.
