Willich – Coincidence or action by militant forest guards? In the night of Monday burned in Willich (NRW), the warehouse of a company that currently leases lifts for the evacuation of Hambacher forest. Activists were already aware of an earlier attack in Saxony. The Kripo investigates in Willich on suspicion of arson.
At 11.22 pm the police and the fire brigade were called to go to the warehouse with the company "Boels". The mission report says: "When the emergency services arrived, a warehouse of about 40 meters x 30 meters burned completely, and the spread of the flames on other buildings can be prevented by the fire brigade."
The hall, where rental machines were parked, burned completely, according to the police. No one was injured.
The company Boels rents out lifts, several of which are currently in use in the Hambach forest. With them, the police cleared occupied tree huts (up to now 77), because the forest has to be cleared for lignite mining. But now, with immediate effect, the company has decided to withdraw its machines from the Hambach forest. Reason: the safety of employees is seriously threatened. Boels said in a statement.
Another company had already withdrawn its lifts from the forest near Aachen because it did not agree with the clearance.
The company Boels was repeatedly attacked on the internet. When a machine with the Boel label was released in Saxony a week ago, an acceptance letter appeared on the internet. It said, among other things: "Boels has ignored the protest of civil society, now they learn: every expulsion has its price, Boels pays for it." The investigation into the case has not yet been completed.
The police have disrupted the construction of new tree huts of miners in the forest during a raid. In an activist camp on the edge of the forest, officials could find material suitable for building barricades and tree houses, according to a spokesperson for the police. This would make the construction of other tree house huts at least more difficult.
