Radhika Madan says that switching to films at the height of her TV career was not a difficult decision for her because she wanted to rediscover herself as an actor. Radhika became an overnight stay after his performance in Ekta Kapoor's Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi. Post the show, the actor signed Vasal Bala's film Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota and will now be seen in Vishal Bhardwaj's Pataakha, which comes first.
"My priority was never money After giving a hit show, you get a lot of money for your second show, if I wanted to earn, I would have spent another year, but I believe more in creative fulfillment than in money," Radhika told PTI.
"After the show was over, I really wanted to take a break because I did it for over a year, I got a lot of offers before my show was over and I was offered good money, but I had to take a break and discover myself again. as an actor, "she said.
Although she was a star on TV, she will be seen as a newcomer in Pataakha, but the dichotomy has never been of interest to the 23-year-old actor. "I have never taken my star status seriously on TV, I believe fame is temporary, but the journey stays with you, I have never felt like a newcomer while working with Vishal, sir. character and see what happens. "
Pataakha is based on the short story of Charan Singh Pathik "Do Behnein" and shows Radhika and Sanya Malhotra as two belligerent sisters. The actor received a call for the final audition for the film as she celebrated the end of the shoot of Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota. Once on board, Radhika underwent several workshops with Bhardwaj and Charan Singh to get the dialect. They then went to the village and did the daily chores – cooking food on a chulha, making cow pies – for about a week.
"When we first heard the locals, the dialect was difficult to understand, it was about our heads, it took us two to three days to become known, we sang songs and danced every night after dinner like them. have gone through that process so that it looks organic, "she recalled.
They completed the film in 28 days and the team is now looking forward to the release on September 28th. "It feels unreal to be part of a Vishal Bhardwaj film, it is so dreamy that it still has to sink in. When I saw myself on the big screen in the trailer and the songs, the realization came through that & # 39; oh I & # 39; m there & # 39; has arrived, but I still can not believe it, "says Radhika.
Looking ahead, the actor says she is clear that she does not want to fall into the trap of movies where she is used like a gag. "I was such a person who always dreamed that I would make an entry on the big screen with my hair in the air in slow motion, and after a while it would be superficial." I would rather do a movie like Pataakha in which I would shades darker, do not have make-up and bleached with her is a film in which I am only a showpiece and stay there, "she says.
