Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Acne is a problem skin most common by many people. Here are a few food that can cause acne.
Many factors contribute to acne, including the production of sebum, bacteria, hormones, inflammation and food.
The relationship between diet and acne has been the subject of many people. Research has shown that diet can play an important role in the development of acne.
Here are some foods that can trigger acne, launch Healthline.
1. Refined carbohydrates
People with acne eat more refined carbohydrates than people without acne.
Refined carbohydrate-rich foods include grains, pasta made with wheat flour, white rice, soda and sugary drinks, and other sweeteners.
One study found that people who often consume added sugars are 30 percent more likely to develop acne. This increased risk is due to the effect of refined carbohydrates on blood sugar and insulin levels.
Refined carbohydrates are quickly absorbed into the bloodstream, which can increase blood sugar. When blood sugar rises, insulin levels increase. High insulin levels can adversely affect acne.
2. Dairy products
Many studies have found a link between dairy products and acne severity.
To date, however, the research has focused on adolescents and young adult participants. Research also only shows a link between milk and acne, without finding a cause.
Milk is known to increase insulin levels, which can worsen the severity of acne. Cow’s milk also contains amino acids that stimulate the liver to make more IGF-1, which has been linked to the development of acne.
3. Junk food
Acne is strongly influenced by a fast food diet that is high in calories, fat and refined carbohydrates.
One study found that a high-fat diet can increase the risk of acne by 43 percent. Meanwhile, regular fast food consumption can increase the risk by 17 percent.
4. Foods rich in omega-6 fats
Foods that contain large amounts of omega-6 fatty acids can increase skin inflammation and acne.
This imbalance of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids causes the body to develop inflammation that can make acne worse.
Some foods that contain high amounts of omega-6 fatty acids are walnuts, kuaci, corn oil, soybean oil, mayonnaise, almod, and tofu.
Chocolate has long been suspected as one of the causes of acne. One study found that consumption of chocolate can increase the reactivity of the immune system to bacteria that cause acne.
