Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) reveals the behavior of Indonesian teenagers who are unhealthy and who cause a number of diseases and malnutrition when they are young.
Secretary of the Health Directorate, Eni Gustina in Jakarta, said Monday that 22 percent of teenagers, especially young women, had anemia.
30 percent is categorized as dwarfism, 10 percent is thin and 8 percent is classified as fat.
While most worms had 28 percent, 26 percent had dental caries, 6 percent had diarrhea and 5 percent had asthma.
The diet of children and adolescents is also considered unhealthy because most eat fast food.
"Teens who eat fruit and vegetables by the rules are only 7 percent, most eat fast food," he added.
In their daily lives, two out of three teenagers do not eat breakfast every morning. And one in two teenagers eat ready meals more than once a day.
Another unhealthy behavior of adolescents is not washing hands before eating, not brushing teeth before going to bed, drinking carbonated drinks daily, and four out of five teenagers have no physical activity.
In addition, Eni also mentions the mental health of children who feel lonely because parents who are busy at work worry and one in twenty teenagers wants to commit suicide.
The health of young women is very important to maintain a healthy body condition to prevent children from being left behind as adults.
