Bawaslu will call Sandiaga if the witness's information indicates the Mahar politics



JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Commissioner of the election organ (Bawaslu), Fritz Edward Siregar, said his party would call the vice presidential candidate Sandiaga Uno if the witness examination would give an indication of the practice of political dowry.

The same applies to the National Mandate Party (PAN) and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS).

"The reporter mentioned in his petition only 3 (reported parties), Sandiaga Uno and two political parties (PAN and PKS) .Bawaslu will also clarify after finding allegations in that direction (political dowry)," Fritz said at the office of Bawaslu, Central Jakarta. Monday (08/20/2018).

So far, however, Bawaslu is still focused on asking for information from witnesses. Later, if the testimony of the witness is considered sufficient, the new reporter will be called.

"We see the results of the research team today, if it is indeed necessary, will be reported (reported), usually during this time to explain the facts that have been reported as called up by the Bawaslu," explained Fritz.

"What we have been the first to pursue the reporter," he continued.

Because the investigation has not yet been completed, Fritz has not been able to determine what kind of sanctions will be given to the reported party if this is proven guilty.

If it is proven that the Vice President donates a certain amount of money to the party as a political dowry, the political party may be subject to Article 228 of Law No. 7 of 2017 regarding the election.

The sanctions, political parties may not participate in the next period of elections.
