VIVA – Residents of the village of Sedogan, Semarang City were shocked by the collapse of a public toilet block. A resident named Adi Sugiarto (46 years old) died immediately after being hit by a rubble.
The tragic incident took place on Monday evening, August 20, 2018 at 10.30. At that time residents heard a roar from the direction of the toilet that suddenly collapsed. It turned out that there were victims in the toilet block who were bathing.
Due to panic, residents reported the incident immediately to the National Basarnas and the local Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD). The evacuation process took quite a long time, due to the many ruins and narrow roads. Evacuation is done manually.
"The other joint search and rescue team then evacuated the victims in ruins at 3.45 pm, in a state of death," said Zulhawary Agustianto, Public Relations of Central Java Basarnas, Tuesday, August 21, 2018.
According to the residents, the man who works as a worker always bathes every evening at ten o'clock in the old toilet.
After evacuating officers, the victim was immediately taken to a house, not far from the stage.
"The victim is now at the funeral home, later it will be buried," he explained.
