Earthquake Magnitude 5.3 shakes Waropen District in Papua



TIMIKA, KOMPAS.com – An earthquake with a force of 5.3 shook Waropen Regency, Papua Province, Sunday (08/26/2018).

On the official BMKG website the earthquake occurred at 21.33.01 WIB, or 23.33.01 WHITE.

The location of the earthquake was 28 kilometers southeast of Waropen Regency, with a depth of 72 kilometers. The coordinates of the earthquakes are – 2.91 South Latitude and 136.92 East Longitude.

The earthquake did not have the potential to cause a tsunami.

Hinga has not yet known the impact of the damage and the victims of the earthquake.

Compass TV Transport Minister Sumadi Budi Karya assessed several locations in North Lombok that were damaged by the earthquake.
