East Java Deputy Governor Hope Mayor of Pasuruan to head of the Last area arrested by KPK



SURABAYA, KOMPAS.com – Deputy Governor of East Java Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) claimed to have been shocked by the news of the Mayor of Pasuruan, secured by researchers from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Thursday (04/10/2018).

He hopes that the arrest of the mayor of Pasuruan is the last arrest of the regional head in East Java by the KPK.

"Hopefully this is the last one, there are no more regional heads arrested," he said Friday (05/10/2018)

According to him, the phenomenon of the head of the region arrested by the KPK is an intrigue problem that can not be regulated by the system.

"If the financial system of the government, if God wants it, is good and designed to prevent corrupt practices," he explained.

He himself was surprised to hear the first information that there was a regional head in Pasuruan, which was questioned by KPK researchers at the Pasuruan police station.

"I think the Regent of Pasuruan was questioned by the KPK, because the Pasuruan regent, Ershad Yusuf, was my brother," he explained.

Yesterday, KPK detectives arrested Mayor Pasuruan Setiyono together with four officials from the Pasuruan City Council.

At the arrest, R 120 million was also guaranteed. The money was reportedly rewarded for the construction of the project in the city of Pasuruan.

The arrest of the mayor of Pasuruan, Setiyono, added to the list of regional leaders in East Java held by the KPK because of corrupt practices in recent years.

A number of East Java regional chiefs who were processed by the KPK law included Bangkalan Regent Fuad Amin Imron, Pamekasan Regent Achmad Syafii, mayor of Batu Eddy Rumpoko, mayor of Madiun Bambang Irianto, Jombang Regent Nyono Suharli Wihandoko, Regent of Mojokerto Mustofa Kamal Pasa and Regent of Tulungagung Syahri Mulyo.
