Taufik Kurniawan becomes a suspect and leaves the Prabowo-Sandi team

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Secretary General of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Eddy Soeparno said, Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Parliament Taufik Kurniawan had resigned from the National Winning Body (BPN) Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno.

Eddy said, Taufik wanted to concentrate on the thing that happened to him first.

"He wants to focus on handling his lawsuit so he has resigned from the BPN," said Eddy on GOR Soemantri, Kuningan, Sunday (11/04/2018).

Eddy said, Taufik had resigned since last week. The declaration of retreat, however, was only given orally. Prabowo-Sandiaga BPN has acknowledged the decision.

"It has been conveyed orally, so we understand that, we do not have to dwell on the formal, but he has transferred (withdrawing) and we accept what he said," said Eddy.

As one of the bearer parties, PAN stated that Taufik would be the vice chairman of the expert council in the BPN structure.

Taufik was, however, called a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

He was detained by the KPK after he underwent an investigation as a suspect on Friday (11/2/2018).

Taufik was held for the first 20 days in the KPK department staff at the KPK Kav C-1 office

The Central Board of the National Mandate Party (DPP PAN) also deactivated Taufik's position as PAN Vice Chairman.
