JAKARTA – Deception Island is the island of the remains of volcanic eruptions. The island lies on the South Antarctic Shetland and has the shape of a horseshoe.
Reporting from the page ForbesOn Monday (11/26/2018), researchers now know why the island is horseshoe-shaped. An island that is an explosive remnant of volcanic eruptions, the enormous volume of magma comes from the guts of the earth.
The rocks above it can no longer contain very hot magma until it finally collapses and forms like a cauldron.
Volcanologists know that Deception Island was once the location of a massive eruption that left a large hole 7 km in the middle of the island. However, a new article in the scientific report, led by the University of Laval in Quebec, solved the mystery when this happened.

It was believed that it had taken place 3,980 years ago, the magma that formed the island lasted 30 to 60 cubic kilometers and made the island a horseshoe.
Deception Island has erupted in different ways over the past 8,000 – 9,000 years. This mountain has erupted about 20 times since the 19th century.
Many scientists know about this island, but this remote and cold part of the world is very difficult to study.
