Tesco & # 39; packing & # 39; deliveries due to & # 39; multiple incidents & # 39; in West Tallaght

Tesco has outsourced store delivery to West Tallaght in Dublin.

This shows that drivers have been attacked, robbed and even shot at by young people armed with a grenade rifle.

Tesco Ireland says that there have been several incidents of antisocial behavior in the area and that it would be "curtailments."

The company says it appreciates the inconvenience, but it has taken the step to protect its colleagues and customers.

It is unclear when, or if, deliveries will resume.

A statement from Tesco stated:

From time to time, we may restrict services in an area for a certain period of time due to incidents of antisocial behavior to protect our colleagues and customers.

Currently following several incidents, we limit deliveries in a small number of areas in West Tallaght with an alternative collection option open to customers at Clondalkin and Naas.

Although we appreciate the inconvenience, the safety of our colleagues and customers is of the utmost importance.

Fianna Fáil advisor Charlie O & Connor says it is a service that people in the community really trust.

"There have been a number of attacks on Tesco drivers lately and that is just not good enough," said O & # 39; Connor.

"The point is that this is depriving the community – a vulnerable community – of an essential service because the Tesco drivers offer excellent service to the community.

"We must ask the gardaí to make every effort to stop this activity."
