Galway Bay fm newsroom – Businesses in the city center defend the installation of two flower pots in a loading dock.
The factory features were installed on Cross Street this week, financed by several local companies.
Council member Padraig Conneely says, however, that the pots prevent the delivery staff from doing their work in the area.
Previously, wooden flowerpots were installed in the designated loading dock but were removed earlier this year due to damage.
Entrepreneurs on Cross Street say that the vapors and noise caused by vans have a negative impact on their business and that there is an unwritten agreement with the municipal council for the factories.
They also claim that vehicles block their storefront for most of the day – despite the fact that after 13:00 hours the space no longer functions as a loading dock.
