More than 3,000 children in the West are waiting for speech and language therapy

Galway Bay fm newsroom – There are more than 3,000 children in Galway, Mayo and Roscommon who are waiting for speech and language therapy.
That is according to Galway-Roscommon TD Eugene Murphy, who says that the delay undermines the principle of early intervention.
He says that the service concept of the HSE has as its goal that no one should wait more than a year for assessment or first treatment.
The Fianna Fáil delegate, however, says that the figures show that hundreds of children in the West have been waiting for more than 12 months.
Deputy Murphy says the only solution is that the HSE will recruit more therapists.
