The Connaught telegraph – 5 kilometer long traffic jams that approach Knock Shrine

Fifty kilometers long tail approaches Knock Shrine

On the Ballyhaunis road to the Knock shrine, a five-mile traffic jam is reported.

The gardaí and stewards are in the area, with a virtual lock on the site.

There are concerns that this can lead to other traffic problems.

AA Roadwatch also reports that the traffic is also very slow, also on the N17 in a northerly direction, with a 4.5 km long traffic jam approaching the road closure outside of Claremorris. It is also hard to approach the N17 on the N60 Ballyhaunis / Claremorris Road in both directions.

Several road closures are present, including the main road through Knock village (R329) and the N17 between Charlestown and Claremorris. A number of roads close to the N17 are also closed, including a part of the N83.
