A woman was arrested after driving in the gates of government buildings on Merrion Street in Dublin.
The incident happened shortly after 10 o'clock when the woman, an Irishman in his fifties who was alone in the car, crashed into the heavy steel gates at the entrance to the Taoiseach department.
She was immediately arrested and taken to the pear station where she was interrogated.
It can be held for up to 24 hours.
Gardaí examines the reason why the car was driven to the railings.
On the floor behind the driver's seat was a small nativity scene, complete with a small set of battery-operated lights.
