One person was put in a yeshiva on Sunday afternoon in the haredi city of Modi in Illit.
The incident took place on Hafetz Haim Street in the Kiryat Sefer neighborhood Modi in Illit just after noon on Sunday, when a young man, roughly 17 years old, was put into a yeshiva.
The police say that the stabbing seems to have a criminal character and is not terror-related. According to the first reports of the scene, the stabbing was the result of a fight that had erupted after a dispute between different students.
Authorities were immediately notified of the stabbing and detected and arrested the suspect, who was taken into custody within minutes of the incident.
Emergency first responders were called to treat the victim, who is said to be in a serious condition.
"When we got there, we say a young man of about 17 years old who is lying on the steps of a yeshiva, fully aware of the pain after being stabbed several times," said MDA paramedic Alon Cohen.
"We have offered him life-saving medical treatment, including stopping the bleeding, providing fluids and drug treatment before we evacuated him to the hospital, while his condition was unstable and severe."
The victim was evacuated by ambulance to the hospital of Tel Hashomer in Ramat Gan.
