Israel is developing a new treatment to treat polluted rivers, the land – Xinhua

JERUSALEM, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) – The Israeli Ministry of Science and Technology Sunday announced the development of a new treatment that purifies heavy metals and organic pollutants from ever-polluted rivers and land.

The research, funded by the ministry, was carried out by scientists from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and the University of Tel Aviv in central Israel.

The researchers developed a portable device in an innovative way, based on the use of an environmentally friendly mix of water, organic solvents and metal binding materials.

Wastewater containing organic pollutants and toxic heavy metals causes pollution and poses a high risk to the environment and health.
