Israeli Arab suspected of trying to stab a policeman, shot dead in Jerusalem
An Israeli Arab man suspected of wanting to stab a policeman was shot dead in the Muslim quarter of Jerusalem on Friday afternoon, the Haaretz reported daily, citing the Israeli police. It was said that officers were sent to the old city on Friday afternoon after a first report of a suspected stab attack. According to officials, the man had approached several policemen and tried to stab one of them. Policemen then shot at the man, which resulted in his death. An Israeli ID card was found on the suspect on the spot. The man was a 30-year-old resident of the Arab northern city of Umm al-Fahm, the report said.
