MANILA, Philippines – Filipino caregivers working in Israel receive additional protection comparable to that of Filipino household staff in Kuwait.
Recently Secretary Silvestre Bello flew to Israel to negotiate the signing of a new agreement that provides more protection to Filipinos who work in the country in the Middle East.
"I will go there so that we can already close the bilateral agreement so that the president will sign it only when he arrives there next month," Bello said in an interview for his flight.
The visit of Duterte, planned on September 2 to 5, will be the first of a Filipino president since the diplomatic ties between the two countries were established in 1957.
According to Bello, the Philippine government will insist on an agreement similar to that which was forged a few months ago with the Kuwaiti government.
