Electromobile marathon takes place in Latvia; for the first time she is free to move from one city to another

Today, in Jurmala, the marathon of the electric car 2018 is launched, which this year has the motto "Charging network connecting cities". This year, the owners of electric cars have become especially noticeable, as in Latvia since the beginning of July, the network of fast charging stations for electric vehicles set up by the Road Safety Directorate (CSDD) has been launched, providing mobility opportunities for participants in the electric vehicle marathon from one city to another will increase.

Until now, Latvian car enthusiasts used their usual electric rosette to charge their electric cars, which was not convenient, because such a load took a lot of time. This problem has now been resolved, since the CSDD has set up the first round of national network charging points. Within this framework, there are 70 fast charging stations for electric vehicles on the main roads of the country and in the largest populated areas, so that participants in the marathon and charging of electric cars can be easily moved across the whole territory of Latvia. By 2021, the intention is to install a total of 150 fast charging stations on Latvian roads.

According to statistics, electric vehicles in Latvia are becoming increasingly popular – the number of registered electric cars is increasing by an average of 30%. Experience from abroad shows that the construction of electric charging stations also contributes to the development of the tourist industry. The Latvian network of fast charging stations has already been evaluated by drivers from other countries, for example, guests from Germany admitted that "charging in Latvia is excellent and a special surprise is that the charging stations are 20 minutes apart and they are well equipped and there are different charging standards available. "

The marathon of the electric car takes place from 30 August to 1 September on the route Jurmala – Ventspils – Liepaja – Bauska – Jēkabpils – Daugavpils – Stamerina – Valmiera. In these stops, the marathon participants and all other interested parties are welcome various activities, including getting acquainted with new electric cars and demonstration of loading at loading stations.
