During the debut of the ŠKODA VISION RS concept at the Paris auto show in 2018, ŠKODA will provide an initial insight into the design of the future of the compact, revealing a new design stage for its sporty RS-series models.
Before the world premiere in October, the Czech brand stores design sketches that aim to give the first impression of a dynamic concept car. In addition, a video will be available that illustrates how it was made in the design department of ŠKODA VISION RS under the direction of chief designer Oliver Stefani.
Even the rough sketches reveal that the main focus of the new concept car is on aerodynamics. The front part is precisely defined. Slim headlights give it a striking dynamic. The rear part is dominated by a diffuser and aerodynamically optimized roof spoiler. The SKODA VISION RS is 4,356 millimeters long and 1 810 millimeters wide, with a height of 1,431 millimeters, while the wheelbase is 2,650 millimeters. With unmistakable traces of driving, this car reveals the design phase of the improved model range of the RS, continuing the 117-year-old motorsport traditions of ŠKODA. The combination of letters RS was first introduced in 1974 for the models 180 RS and 200 RS rally sports cars. After the success of the 130 RS model, cars were known around the world. Since 2000, the logo has been successfully used to identify a large number of models from the SKODA series.
Exclusive insight behind the door, which is usually solid
The ŠKODA design department is the home of a villa built in 1890 on the banks of the Jizera River in the Mlada Boleslav Cesana district. It is part of the progressive and well-guarded ŠKODA AUTO Technology Center, which was relocated to Cesana in 2008, with the emergence of modernization in 2015. Here futuristic technologies meet the traditions of an idyllic area and create an exceptionally special atmosphere specially designed for creative work. Here, Oliver Stefani, together with 150 employees from 26 different countries, develops the future design language of ŠKODA. Villa was once the private home of textile producer Franca Hillera. Textile production equipment was moved here in the 19th century. In turn, ŠKODA & # 39; s auto parts were canceled in the middle of the 20th century.
The video shows how the camera flies in the direction of "Design Villa & # 39; s". Inspired by the historic ŠKODA 130 RS rally car, the designer's villa in the courtyard of the slate shows the athletic compact design with precise, smooth lines and different contours – the ŠKODA VISION RS. The new RS logo and the distinctive LED daytime running lights point to the new SKODA KODIAQ RS dynamic ambitions.
