Alfa Romeo currently produces only three models: the Giulietta hatchback, the Giulia sedan and the Stelvio crossover, but with a few other models – sedans and crossovers – we are introduced to the location of the next year, the representation of Alfa promises Romeo in Latvia.
Many of the competitors in the Alfa Romeo premium segment produce dozens of cars – the same models have different body variants, wheelbases of different lengths, but the Italians don't think so. The reasons for such a promotion are the same as those of more than 100 years ago, when the history of this manufacturer had just begun.
"These reasons – special design, sportiness and quality Alfa Romeo cars don't mix with others – their shape, light, wheels are different from most." To fill all market niches, this principle must be sacrificed. Even if the sedan and four-wheel drive functions are different due to different weight distribution and aerodynamics, "says Alfa Romeo's representative, Karlis Paberz.
This is best illustrated by the results. "Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio" is the fastest sedan on the Nordschleife track at the Nürburgring (one lap was swallowed in seven minutes and 32 seconds), while "Stelvio Quadrifoglio" – the fastest SUV (7 min 51.7 s). The Alfa Romeo sedan at the Nürburgring had a better lap time than models like the Porsche Carrera GT or Ferrari 458 Italia, while the Italian SUV outperformed the "Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4" and "Aston Martin V12 Vantage S".
If Alfa Romeo introduces the universal, it will be his first goal to become the fastest universal at the Nürburgring. The same goal will be for the new hatchback and compact SUV.
The Alfa Romeo car shows a lot of news at the beginning of this decade after a long break. The presented Giulia sedan marked a return to the traditional components – the front of the engine and the rear drive wheels.
After a year we were introduced to the first SUV "Alfa Romeo" – "Stelvio". The conceptual "Tonale" crossover was unveiled at the last Geneva Motor Show. It is smaller than the Stelvio SUV, which is expected to be the first Alfa Romeo model with a hybrid engine and the first electric car.
Electric sports models are distinguished from other functions: they accelerate faster, but the center of gravity can be concentrated on the car's own end. Already today there are several electric racing events, but the World RX World Rally Championship is scheduled to run from 2021, so Alfa Romeo is also taking steps in this direction.
The small crossover is expected to be the first hybrid and fully electric Alfa Romeo model, but a completely new rear-wheel drive hatchback is also planned for 2020.
The "4C" and "8C" sports compartments of "Alfa Romeo" also produce offspring. The "GTV" with a hybrid platform will reach more than 600 hp and should be comparable to the Giulia Coupé. The rear wheels of the sporty "8C" drive are powered by a gasoline engine, while the front – electrically, the total power of the system exceeds 700 hp. These are cars that are only presented after a few years, but some parts are now being tried and prepared for their debut in the market and record highs at the Nürburgring.
