Latvia’s top cross-country skier, Patricia Eiduka, took 41st place in the sprint on Friday in the first race of the World Cup season in Finland, the organizers said.
Eiduka hid 1.4 kilometers in classic style in three minutes and 10.83 seconds, 14.89 seconds behind the owner of the best result in qualifying. Anna Apelkvista Stenseta from Norway was the fastest qualifying match in the 76 participant competition.
The 30 best qualified participants qualified for the elimination competition. Patricia was separated from the TOP 30 for 3.72 seconds.
A year ago, in the first sprint of the Eiduka season, he took 75th place, but the new season started not only with a higher place, but also with a better result.
In the remainder of the first stage of the season, the women will cover 10 kilometers classically in Ruka on Saturday. There is also a 10 kilometer freestyle race on Sunday, where Eiduka hopes for the best success. Latvia was not represented in the men’s first World Cup season competition.
