Festival with a sign of priority and excellence – Culture

This summer, a new world-class symphonic orchestra festival RIGA JURMALA will be held in Latvia. The festival's opening season includes four weekends, from 19 July to 1 September, with concerts taking place in the Latvian National Opera, the Great and Small Hall of the Dzintari Concert Hall and the Great Guild.

The very first!

Music Festival RIGA JURMALA is intended as an annual major cultural event in the Northern European region. And the very first time it is important that the event becomes a capital letter. The organizers of the festival have focused on musicians whose names appear in all the prestigious concert halls of the world, but have never been to Latvia. Summer will be new!

Classical music – in the best concert halls

festival RIGA JURMALA takes place in the architectural gems of Riga and Jurmala – the Latvian National Opera, the Great Guild and the most demanding location of the summer season – in the Great and Small Hall of the Dzintari Concert Hall. With one of the most beautiful beaches in the Baltic Sea, the sounds of pine forest and the natural colors of Latvia's summer, an unforgettable atmosphere awaits visitors.

Nature and classical music

Latvia – a pearl of original nature – is definitely worth exploring! 12,000 rivers, 500 km of sandy beach, and half of the country's territory is a forest! One of the festival's locations – Jurmala – is a 24 km long beach and intact pine forest. Visitors to the Dzintari concert hall get an unforgettable experience in every concert, in which the Baltic nature, the most beautiful sunsets, maritime tunes and music come together. No concert is the same!

Don't let it be heard!

Celebrate great, at the top of the world orchestra Latvia will visit exclusive concerts during one summer! Latvian maestro and pride Mariss Janson and his Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, legend Zubin Meta and the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra in one of his last joint concerts (conductor left IFO artistic director in the fall of 50 years!), Mikhail Plethnov and Russian National Orchestra, as well as the British rebels and pioneers Janandrea Nozeda and London Symphony Orchestra.

Why a new festival?

The festival is based on a private initiative based on the pride of the country from which so many internationally renowned talents have sprung! A country with less than 2 million inhabitants has been able to create modern stars like Mariss Jansons, Andris Nelson, Gidon Kremer, Mishk Maiskis, Mikhail Barishnikov, Elina Garanča, Marina Rebeka, etc. On the other hand, Latvia is the country with the most advanced singing traditions in Europe – every five years, more than 15,000 choir singers from all over the country come together for an ambitious concert in the capital. All this is an excellent basis for a new and ambitious musical event with the aim of becoming the most important destination for cultural tourism in Northern Europe!

Four in one

The festival consists of four mini festivals series – four summer weekends, each with five concerts and one in the center – one of the most striking symphonic music heavyweight – Symphony Orchestra. Gourmets and all new explorers will especially enjoy the concerts of the day that will be played by those who are called the stars of the world by the world press.
