From a comparison of the data from the survey held last year with this year, the citizens are still most familiar with the possibilities of submitting annual tax returns and requests for arrears of tax refunds electronically, the use of the electronic declaration system (EDS). ) and the receipt of a one-day license for participation in road traffic.

Almost a fifth or 21 percentage points have increased the number of people who are aware of the possibility to submit an application electronically for the issue of a personal identification document and 17% for sickness benefits. Similarly, awareness of unemployment and old-age pension applications increased by 16%, while information on electronic applications for maternity and childbirth allowances increased by 14 and 12 percentage points, respectively.

Compared to 2017, the number of respondents (21%) who wanted to receive on-site services declined by five percentage points, but more than two thirds of the population – 68% – would prefer to receive electronic services in the future, which is four percentage points higher than last year. year.

The largest increase, which is 33 percentage points, is for the application of sickness benefits, the number of electronic applications for family support increased by 24 percentage points and by 21 percentage points the application for parental benefit for e-services.

Research data show that people who have used e-services in the past three years would like to do so in the future. The electronic application for the European health insurance card can be very large – at present 41% of e-services is used, but 76% of the population would like to be contacted electronically in the future.

The main reasons why people choose to use e-services electronically is to emphasize the time saved. Mobility is also being evaluated – there is no need to go specifically to the institution, as well as the ability to receive the service at any place and time.

Respondents use different information sources to find information that is important to them. The most frequently used information on the internet is via search engines and in consultation with others. In comparison with last year, residents have sought more information this year in the unified state service portal, which increased by 18 percentage points to 54%. In addition to important sources of information, their positions are kept by various internet seekers, telephone communication and the website of the institution concerned.

The research was carried out by the research company "Creative Laboratory" and the research and consultancy bureau "Kantar TNS", which inspected 1004 Latvian residents from 23 April to 29 May of this year.
