On the Saulkrasti Secondary School website a message will be published at the end of July that class 10 will be opened this year and the parents of nine students were certain that until the extraordinary meeting of the district council of Saulkrasti on 17 August, the number of pupils was not enough to to be class. open, so that these children can study six kilometers in the remote secondary school in Zvejniekciems, if they want to.
Ervīns Grāvītis (VL-TB / LNNK), chairman of the district council of Saulkrasti (VL-TB / LNNK), the cabinet of ministers (CM) pointed out that the number of students in the educational institution of the province Saulkrasti in group 10 no less than 18 or the total number of educators of 10 may be. To class 12 must be at least 48.
Iveta Baltina, chairman of the "Day" of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saulkrasti, stated that all children who participated in the tenth grade had very good grades. So if the decision not to open the 10th class was made in time, children could make a different choice, for example to go to one of the schools in Riga, but now many of these options have been missed.
Other parents also acknowledged on the day that this decision was not happy and now the choice was made even in favor of Krimulda Secondary School, because Zvejniekciems did not approve any logistics or delivery terms.
Grāvītis, the head of the municipality, declared the sudden decision and pointed to the responsibility of the school's director – information about the lack of school children was received too late. The director should also have warned parents that the 10th class will only be opened if the rules of the Cabinet of Ministers can be complied with. He added that this year 31 students ended up in 9th grade at the Saulkrasti high school, and therefore the director had no reason to worry that the 10th grade could not be completed.
Meanwhile, the director of the Saulkrasti high school Velta Kalnakārkle rejects her allegations as unfounded, arguing that in July she warned that the situation needed an urgent solution. His newspaper emphasized that a large number of deputies were elected from Zvejniekciems, so the decision in favor of the secondary school of Zvejniekciems, of which the director is also a member, is not surprising.
Both the parents of the school and the educators of the "Day" have indicated that this is not the first case of a similar decision. Children miss every year. In 2016, for example, it was decided to open Saulkrasti Secondary School without opening the 10th class in Zvejnieksciems. In that time, however, this happened in time, but parents and educators emphasized the need for a long-term solution, because it is clear to everyone that two secondary schools will not be able to exist, but September will come closer and the MPs will decide not open class as a temporary rescue.
Marina Skrara, a lecturer in economics and social sciences in Saulkrasti's secondary school, is worried that the municipality has no insight into educational issues in the long term. Deputies are accused of general insecurity in the country and reluctance to "ride the train forward & # 39;
The President of the City Council, & # 39; Day & # 39 ;, has indicated that the problem of setting up a high school in the district is current and needs to be resolved, but only if the Cabinet of Ministers has new rules on quantitative and establish qualitative criteria for secondary schools. "We need to know the rules and there must be clear criteria for reform and the establishment of a secondary school," explained Gravity.
However, such hesitation does not come to the benefit of one of the schools, parents think, because if they can no longer rely on the fact that the child will be in an educational institution, other options will be sought in time, so that the number of pupils in both schools are reduced.
When studying the school network of the Ministry of Education and Science, it was recommended to reorganize secondary school in Zvejniekciema as a primary school, but also at secondary schools in Saulkrasti.
