The Riga Security, Order and Anti-Corruption Prevention Committee today supported the closure of another gaming hall in the center of Riga – at the Central Station, 2 January, street 2a.
As explained by the head of the city council's legal department, Jānis Liepiņš, this is an important traffic hub and is located in the streets of red lines, as well as in the historic center of Riga and its protection zone. Moreover, this land plot will also be necessary in the future for the implementation of the Rail Baltica project.
The owners of the drug are SIA "Alfor", and Liepiņš has not banished that the company will probably go to court for the decision of this municipality. Alfor, LLC, said that, according to the information available in the Land State Service cadastral system, the grass is not in the streets of the red lines. The company also points out that according to the Riga plan, the hall is not located on the territory to which the ban of the binding rules of the Riga municipality applies.
The final decision will be taken by the city council of Riga.
As mentioned, the Riga City Council decided in October to ban the opening of 42 arcades in the historic center of Riga and its protection zone. This decision was most directly influenced by Alfor Ltd., which supervises the gaming rooms "Feniks laimityva", as this decision provides for the closure of 16 medicines owned by the company. Alfor has already sued Riga Municipality for canceling various permits.
