"The current legislation does not provide for longer lease terms, later it is a discussion with the tenant, we believe in the potential of this building, we believe it is one of the most valuable cultural buildings in Latvia," Neimanis said.

Neyman expressed confidence that the tenant could find it – if not the first one, then in the second round of the auctions.

It is true that at the end of the day no other bidder had paid the security costs. However, the head of the WNIS said that the tenants generally applied for the last day in order not to compete.

The head of the WNIS estimated that the renovation of the building should invest half a million euros. This is due to the fact that the building has been unprocessed for many years and now needs to be repaired, the infrastructure has to be restored to the networks. The tenant is expected to retain the cultural functions for the building.

Wagner & # 39; s Hall is the oldest Riga City Theater, where for two years (1837-1839) the young composer Rihards Wagner worked as a conductor. This concert hall, now called the Wagner Hall, served as inspiration for the composer for the later construction of the Baireit Festival House.

Since 2006 the house is in poor condition and closed. Since 2006, Wagner Hall has been in the possession of the Ministry of Finance and is managed by "State Real Estate". The house, built in 1782 by the architect Christopher Haberland, is in poor condition and has been closed for 12 years.

In July 2018 the government decided to rent a house, but the Riga Wagner Society regarded such a decision as irrational.
