13.7 billion revenue of “Emirates Group” in 6 months – the economic – the local market

The Emirates Group had sales of DM 13.7 billion in the first half of the current fiscal year, down 74% from the same period last year, when revenues reached DM 53.3 billion. This decline is due to the “Covid 19” pandemic, which paralyzed air travel for many weeks after most countries in the world closed their borders and imposed travel restrictions.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chief Executive Officer and CEO of Emirates Airlines and the Group, said: “We have started our current fiscal year with a global shutdown that completely paralyzed air travel. As a result of these unprecedented conditions affecting the airline and travel industry, the Emirates Group posted six-monthly losses for the first time in more than 30 years.

With travel on hold, Emirates and dnata were able to rapidly transform to meet the demand for goods and other opportunities. This helped us restore our earnings from zero to 26% of what it was in the same period last year. “

His Highness added: “ The resilience of the Emirates Group in the face of today’s challenging circumstances is a testament to the strength of our business model and years of continued investment in skills, technology and infrastructure that are now paying off in terms of cost and operational efficiency.

Emirates and dnata have built strong brands and high-level digital capabilities that continue to serve our business and have enabled us to cope with the rapid shifts in customer and online business over the past six months. “

And His Highness added: No one can predict the future, but we expect a strong return in travel demand as soon as the “Covid 19” vaccine becomes available, and we are ready, as Emirates Airlines and dnata are fully prepared to deploy their resources to meet demand and serve our customers.

Emirates Airlines gradually resumed regular passenger services on May 21, and by September 30, the airline’s services had returned to 104 cities with passenger and cargo flights.
