The Public Information Office of the Ministry of Health issued the following statement:
"Recent studies were not consistent with the official and non-official studies on the pollution of seawater in Lebanon.Right 77/2018, in particular Articles 27, 26, 28 and 32, indicates that the control of surface, Groundwater, coastal and explosive water is the responsibility of the Ministry of Energy and Water Because pollution can cause health damage to swimming pool attendants, it is important to identify the contaminated beaches in a formal way and to warn the citizens about their arrival.
That is why Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health Ghassan Hasbani wrote a letter to the Ministry of Energy and Water with the request to inform the Ministry of Health of the results of his periodic investigations. Michel Afram and the Secretary-General of the National Council for Scientific Research, to prevent civilians from swimming in the water to ensure the safety of their health.
It should be noted that some studies may not be based on scientific criteria, so the competent reference should be the one who ultimately determines the quality of water and takes the necessary measures to correct it.
