According to cooperatives that unite national farmers, the production of small or family businesses is more often observed and bought by buyers of cities.
It helps producers to get the income more quickly and ultimately invest in product development and job creation. According to data from the Maxima retail chain, more than 80 new food products were delivered in the trade network report by Lithuanian farmers in large stores in the first half of this year. In the past year this figure was 130.
Vilma Eimutiene, deputy director of the agricultural cooperative "Lithuanian Agricultural Quality", said it is very important for Lithuanian producers to sell their products quickly and easily. Last year sales of cooperative members in network stores amounted to almost 1 million euros.
"Every farmer knows how many products can be delivered in stores, he says he is targeted, his stores appear on the shelves of different stores, for example a farmer's family presents dairy products to three stores in Kaunas, the other has its own route in Šiauliai. also such farms, whose production is already available throughout Lithuania, "says V. Eimutiene.
One of the farmers who supply the Maxima chain is Virgilijus Kuprevičius from the Kedainiai district. According to him, buyers in the "favors of the countryside" category can find roots that are grown on his farm, cabbage. The ability to work with the marketing network helped the farmer to expand the farm, created nearly 30 new jobs, and roots grown in the Lithuanian field can be delivered to the retail chain almost all year round.
Vilma Drulienė, the sales manager of the trade network, says that small and medium-sized farmers are increasingly cooperating with the retail chain.
"Nowadays fresh vegetables, dairy products, eggs, bakery products and other food products are supplied by family businesses with 2 to 80 employees. We offer the possibility to discover our own niche for each farm – small partners especially appreciate the possibility to realize the amount of production that bring them to the stores, "Dr. Drulienė.
V. Drulienė notes that more than a hundred cooperating farmers are courageous to experiment and continually offer innovations – unusual flavor combinations, interesting products or more convenient packaging. According to her, marketing network specialists help farmers better understand the needs of consumers, to discover their niche in the market.
"It is important for farmers to know that the fruits of their work reach the consumer's table: by offering its products to the stores of the largest retailer, small producers can more easily predict their financial inflows and plan their investments with a clear perspective. offer farmers the necessary equipment beforehand: they invest in the production of the highest quality and in accordance with the standards, "says Karol Zokaitis, head of Jomarko Prekyba.
