Designers have tried – the Mercedes-Benz Class B model looks unique in the monotonous world. The longer wheelbase (2 729 mm), the lower the roof line and a maximum of 19 inch diameter wheels give it a dynamic appearance.
Due to aerodynamic efficiency, the Class B model does not stand alone. It has an air resistance coefficient of 0.24, which corresponds to sports models.
Abrasive headlights are an exceptional feature of the new Mercedes-Benz. The Class B model can be equipped with LED lighting with innovative Multibeam technology, which cuts off the light beam by maximizing lighting on the road and without harming the drivers of other vehicles.
Back accents – a few. Stylishly air-conditioned above the glass, the two-part headlights appear in the center and bottom of the black diffuser with integrated glossy exhaust pipes underneath.
Compared to the predecessor of Class B, the interior of the car has really changed. The result is comparable to the predominant avant-garde of the smaller Class A model, but the Class B Salon is much more spacious and has made many solutions possible. For example, the position of the driver's seat is 90 mm higher, which improves visibility.
The novelty is a huge space, starting on the left side of the car, against the driver, and extending to the passenger side – it can contain two large screens. According to the selected equipment, two 7 can be installed here; 10.25 and 7 or two 10.25-inch diagonal screens. The projection screen is also organized and displays the most important travel information on the windshield.
There are five oval channels on the large screens, illuminated by LED strips. You can choose from 64 different colors and 10 colors of interior lighting. It is a unique feature of this segment that allows you to create a unique interior or adjust it to your mood.
The rear seats are split at 40:20:40. This summer, the debut of the B-Class version with a sliding rear seat can be pushed 14 centimeters, increasing the boot volume from 455 to 705 liters. When the rear seats are folded down, the volume increases to 1,540 l, while the back of the passenger seat in the compact Class B model can contain very long objects.
Class B is equipped with the latest multimedia system Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX). It is a personal system that adapts to the needs of the driver and passengers.
The car is equipped with a navigation system with augmented reality functionality. When approaching the bend, the system combines the image on the front of the camera with the navigation instructions and displays it on the central screen so that the driver can see the street scene in real time with the required direction of travel.
Saying: Hey, Mercedes, is a smart car assistant. It has many functions that can be assigned to it: from navigation instructions to calling a specific person. And when I'm cold, the air temperature in the cabin will rise.
This is a unique program, not only for functionality, but also for upgrade options. You don't have to go to a representative office – MBUX can be updated online.
Every Mercedes-Benz Class B model has an Active Brake Assist, which reduces speed or stops the car if the driver does not respond to a car or a person in front of the object.
Active distance aid DISTRONIC is like an improved active speed control. It combines the information received from the vehicle for the vehicle with that from the navigation system. If the system is on, the class B model will automatically pause before the car slows down, the next turn or the roundabout.
Thanks to the combination of these and other active emergency stop assistants and active Lane Change Assist systems in the driving assistance package, the class B model can be implemented partially autonomously. Autoradars and cameras follow the traffic 500 meters away and with powerful images processed by the processor you can immediately make the right decisions.
