SEREMBAN (Bernama): The police arrested a 23-year-old babysitter to investigate a case involving a four-month-old baby boy, Mohammed Ummar Zayyan Mohamad Haikal Hafiz, who became unconscious.

Seremban District Chief of Police ACP Thiew Hock Poh said the woman was arrested yesterday at 8.45 pm at the compound of the headquarters of Seremban Police.

"The suspect will be taken to the court of Seremban tomorrow for a pre-trial detention request to allow further information under Article 31 (1) (a) of the Child Act 2001," he said in a statement today.

Thiew said the police received a report from the victim's mother at 10:52 pm on Monday.

"In her report, the complainant said at about 07.07 on the same day, she heard from the babysitter that her son was weak after crying loudly," he said.

He said that the complainant's husband immediately went to the babysitter's house in Taman Sri Mambau to pick up their child and took him to the hospital.

Previously, the media had reported that Mohammed Ummar Zayyan's mother, Zura Emilia Mokhtar, said that her son was being treated at the pediatric intensive care center at Tuanku Jaafar Hospital and was still unconscious. – BERNAMA
