IPOH: The disbursement of the 1Malaysia People & # 39; s Aid (BR1M) initiated by the previous Barisan Nasional should be discontinued because it has elements of corruption to get the support of the people, said the Minister of Economic Affairs Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali (Pix).
He said, however, that under the leadership of Pakatan Harapan (PH) the government was busy drawing up a new initiative that focused on the well-being of the people and not on bribing or deceiving people.
Through the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance we will certainly give an opinion in the near future and present a new initiative on the economic direction of the country in Parliament.
"If this focus (new initiative) is to enrich people, I think people will have more economic power to help ease their cost of living," Mohamed told Azmin, who is PKR vice president, to reporters after officiating from the Perak Branch Annual General Meeting (MATC) 2018 at Kinta Riverfront Hotel here today.
Prime Minister Tun Mahathir Mohamad said yesterday that his government was striving to reduce BR1M in phases before it was completely stopped.
Meanwhile, he believed that party members would evaluate him in the right way based on his credibility and experience in the party and government at the state level to maintain his party after the PKR National Congress in November.
"I leave it to the wisdom of each party member and I think my report reflects the real situation and it is up to the party members to determine the future of this party.
"I am sure that party members will maintain good democratic practices with integrity to choose the leaders who can bring PKR to greater excellence," he added.
The PKR election for the new term witnesses the position of PKR deputy president of Mohamed Azmin who is challenged by PKR Vice President Rafizi Ramli. – Bernama
