KUCHING: A group representing Kuching Polytechnic Sarawak (PKS) has succeeded in having the name of the institution registered in the Malaysian Book of Records (MBR) for the largest number of participants in the Alu-Alu perform dance. A total of 1289 students and PKS staff performed the dance on the PKS soccer field yesterday.
MBR certificate was presented by MBR research and analysis staff Mohd Hafizi Hamdan to PKS director Kamaludin Daud after the performance.
Kamaludin said they chose to perform the Alu-Alu dance because it has the ability to bring people of different races together
"It took three weeks before we had prepared for this attempt. The Sarawak Department of Culture and Art has accompanied us in this, "he added. He announced that the attempt was part of the POLIKU Borneo Rainforest Carnival this year.
