GEORGE TOWN: The government will apply a liberal approach to traders in implementing the Sales and Services Tax (SST), said Minister of Finance Lim Guan Eng.
He said the approach was important to fend off perception as if there were traders who were trying to avoid paying taxes.
"The government will also trust merchants and taxpayers to declare their taxes fair, so we offer them the opportunity to identify the goods and services that they think can be excluded from SST and we accept them At the same time, we will investigate and take action if the statements made (from traders) are incorrect, "he said.
