Yap Pian Hon says that DAP & # 39; reverses the message of democracy.

PETALING JAYA: MCA veteran Yap Pian Hon has failed on DAP because he claims it is unsuited to play the role of check and balance for Pakatan Harapan (PH), and claims that such remarks are in violation of the Malaysian democratic system.

"It's a ridiculous statement," he told FMT. "DAP has also returned to its message of democracy and how it was part of the opposition also fought for the existence of checks and balances.

"Now that it is part of the government, there is suddenly a change in principles and struggle."

He responded to DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang and PH's candidate for the Balakong Intermediate Election, Wong Siew Ki, who had dismissed both the potential of MCA and control and balance in Selangor.

Lim said MCA must reform itself before it can be considered by voters, adding that it was "part of a 60-year-old Barisan Nasional government involved in abuse of power".

"At the moment it is important to change the abuse of power that has been going on for 60 years," he said yesterday. "That's more important than what MCA said (about checks and balances)

"We agree with the concept of control and balance, but MCA can not play this role."

Meanwhile, Wong reportedly shot the manifesto of her contender, Tan Chee Teong of MCA, in which he had expressed his purpose to be a control and balance in the state meeting.

She said that PH MCA did not need to serve as control and balance in Selangor.

The Yap emphasized the similarities in their statements and said that this showed that the senior DAP leadership "still wants to control everything".

"They are not prepared to let the younger leaders talk, the freedom of expression in DAP is still not allowed, and this is an example.

"It seems that the younger people have to follow what the senior leaders say or are at risk of being put aside in the party."

He added that DAP had become "too arrogant" since PH & # 39; s victory in the general elections of May 9.

"It's time for the people of Balakong to teach DAP a lesson," he said.

The seat of Balakong fell empty after the death of the mechanic, Eddie Ng of DAP, in an accident on the Grand Saga Expressway on 20 July.

The interim election will take place on 8 September.
