PETALING JAYA: A man who reportedly killed his five-year-old son while the boy was sleeping was indicted here yesterday with murder in the Magistraatshof and faced with the death penalty by conviction.

Unemployed Mohd Faih Rifin, 36, who was a member of the People's Volunteer Corps (Rela), was accused of killing the boy, Muhammad Waiz Wazzini, at Flat Puchong Permai 1/6, Taman Puchong Permai, Puchong, Petaling, here between 2.30 and 5.30 pm, last August 13.

The man, dressed in a violet uniform, looked calm, nodded, and said he understood after the charge was read to the magistrate Nor Ariffin Hisham.

No plea was raised, however, since the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

Neither Ariffin then placed 16 Oct for entry.
