PETALING JAYA: The police disprove a viral message claiming that three men in Jeram, Selangor, have been attacked because of an early morning fight azan (call to prayer).
Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat (Pic) said that the case was actually caused by a quarrel between two groups.
"Friday (31 Aug.), At 2 o'clock in the morning, a group of men ate in a stable when they saw another group in the neighborhood racing with their motorcycles.
"The first group scolded the motorcyclists who then left the area," he said when he contacted on Sunday.
The second group, consisting of four men armed with machetes, returned with masks around 5 o'clock and attacked the first group still in the stable.
SAC Fadzil said that everyone in the first group had managed to run away except for one man, 35, who was disabled.
"He was cut into his left arm and was quickly taken to the Sungai Buloh hospital for treatment," he said.
The police arrested three of the attackers, between 16 and 22, around 1 o'clock on Sunday.
They have been returned until 6 September.
