Police saves seven kidnapped by pirates – Nation



LANGKAWI: Seven victims of a daring armed robbery at sea have been rescued by the police.

However, four more victims are missing because they are believed to have been held by force by suspects who escaped to Thailand. 19659002] Langkawi OCPD Supt Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the police received an emergency call from the owner of the boat yesterday around 8.35 am.

"The owner said that his fishing boat was parked near Pulau Langgun, and research showed that two boats had been stopped by two Thai nationals on two boats

" Based on collected information, the police arrived and successfully intercepted one of the boats used by the suspects.

"In it, seven victims were saved while four Thai suspects were arrested," he said in a statement yesterday.

They were taken to the Langkawi police station for questioning.

Supt Mohd Iqbal said the police found three guns that were used during the first entry.

Four other Malaysians, who were taken into the second boat, were probably transported to Thailand.

"Efforts to save the remaining victims are underway," he said.
