The Minister of Finance says that traders are trusted to declare their taxes fair.
GEORGE TOWN: The government will use a liberal approach towards traders in the implementation of sales and services tax (SST), said Minister of Finance Lim Guan Eng.
He said the approach was important to ward off the perception that traders try to avoid paying taxes.
"The government will also trust traders and taxpayers to declare their taxes fairly.
" Therefore we offer them the opportunity to indicate the goods and services that they believe can be excluded from SST and we will accept it. At the same time we will investigate and take action if the statements made (from traders) are incorrect, "he said.
