They were against hudud but never attacked us, says Hadi in defense of MCA

The president of the PAS welcomes closer ties with his former rivals who are now in the opposition.

[19659003] SHAH ALAM: PAS said today that the campaign would help the MCA candidate in the upcoming Balakong election to show solidarity from the opposition, adding that the Chinese party had never attacked PAS leaders like DAP had done .

PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang said there was a difference in the way MCA and DAP opposed the Islamic Party's plan to introduce stricter Sharia laws, including hudud punishments.

"MCA did not agree either, but they just said they did not agree and did not attack us as DAP did," Hadi said.

Rainfall between PAS and DAP on plans to introduce hudud into Kelantan caused the collapse of the Pakatan Rakyat coalition, a loose pact between PAS, DAP and PKR in the aftermath of the 2008 poll

PAS, currently the largest opposition party after Umno, had openly chosen the side of the Malaysian party during the recent Sungai Kandis in the elections.

Hadi said that he welcomed closer ties between PAS and Umno, and hoped both Parties would show the same level of cooperation in the mid-term election of Seri Setia, where Umno decided to stay outside to make a direct fight possible between PAS and Pakatan Harapan (PH).

In Seri Setia, PH & # 39; s Halimey Abu Bakar (PKR) will take up against PAS & Dr Halimah Ali, while in Balakong, MCA & # 39; s Tan Chee Teong stands against DAP & # 39; s Wong Siew Ki.

Voters in both constituencies will vote on 8 September.

Hadi said Umno's current image in the aftermath of highly published investigations into scandals related to his leaders would not hamper collaboration with PAS.

He said he was confident that voters who supported PH would have a change of heart after seeing the "failures" of the coalition within 100 days in power.

"We saw this change in Sungai Kandis where there was a low turnout, as well as an increase in votes for Umno and declining support for PH," said Hadi
