Gummy made a welcome return on KBS 2TV’s “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook”!
In the episode of the music talk show on November 28, the legendary singer was a guest for the first time in a year. She marked her first television appearance since the birth of her first child last August.
Host Yoo Hee Yeol enthusiastically expressed his excitement at Gummy being back on the show, and as the two singers greeted each other by playfully pressing their hands against the plexiglass divider, he joked, “I feel like we meet again after being separated by a war or something. “
Gummy then said she had seen ‘Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook’ while resting in a maternity center after giving birth. “I turned on the TV, and it was your show, and you said it was the OST special,” she recalls. ‘I was happy to see it [Baek Ji Young and Lyn] on the show, because we’re all close, and that’s when you called me right at that moment. “
Yoo Hee Yeol recalled saying, “If Gummy were here too, it would be like the Avengers,” and Gummy shared with a laugh, “You know how you said, ‘Gummy might be looking at this from a postpartum care center’? I was really watching you guys from a postpartum care facility! I thought to myself, I should definitely tell him this when we meet at the show. ”
Yoo Hee Yeol went on to say that because he had seen Gummy since she was so young, it was difficult for him to understand that she was already a mother. Gummy replied, “It’s strange, isn’t it? To be honest, I still can’t believe it myself. Even when I look at my baby, I wonder, ‘Am I really the one who gave birth to her?’ It is truly amazing, and every day is full of emotional and moving moments. ”
When Yoo Hee Yeol pointed out that it was her first TV appearance since becoming a mother, Gummy replied, “Yes, and I have no other plans to return to TV for now.”
She also shared her thoughts on singing “Remember Me,” her hit ballad from tvN’s OST “Hotel Del Luna,” for the first time on TV. “I was so nervous,” she admitted. “And it was not only my first time singing the song on TV, but it was also my first performance in a very long time. So I practiced a lot before coming here today. “
Later, Gummy playfully commented on the huge success of her husband Jo Jung Suk’s own OST contribution – his amazing remake of Cool’s “Aloha” for his drama “Hospital Playlist,” which topped the Korean charts for an impressive long time earlier this year. .
“He really swept the charts,” Gummy said with a laugh. “It’s to such an extent that I received quite a few OST awards last year, and I think my husband may be the one to receive these awards this year.”
Gummy then jokingly complained, “It’s even gotten to the point where people have recently contacted my agency to try and hire him to perform at events. I have sometimes even jokingly said to him, “Why did you enter my territory and take all my work with you?” Performing at events, OSTs … what else do I have to do? “
Yoo Hee Yeol teased Gummy by turning to the camera and eagerly inviting Jo Jung Suk to guest on the show.
After all the jokes, Gummy blessed viewers’ ears with her own rendition of “Aloha” – with help from Yoo Hee Yeol. When he praised her singing, she humbly responded by cheering up her husband by saying, “The original singer sang the song too well. [for me to live up to]. “
