Liverpool have confirmed that Paul Glatzel and Joe Hardy will both be sidelined for several weeks after sustaining ankle ligament injuries against Southampton on Saturday.
The Reds climbed to the top of Premier League 2 after a hard-earned goalless draw against the Saints on Saturday afternoon in Kirkby.
But the match was overshadowed by injuries to Glatzel and Hardy, both of whom have only recently returned from prolonged absence.
Glatzel took a kick on his right ankle during the first half, which eventually forced him to stop at half time and later take off on crutches while wearing a leg brace.
While Hardy, who had only been on the field for a matter of moments as a late substitute, he was caught by a mediocre challenge from Alexandre Jankewitz.
The attacker required lengthy treatment before taking off on a stretcher and going to the hospital for leg injury scans.
And now Liverpool have confirmed that the pair will be out of action for ‘several weeks’ as they undergo rehabilitation for their injuries.
